What a life changing purchase!
It took years to accept that I might need a mobility 'vehicle' to get out and about, and I tested loads of mobility scooters which were awful for my lower back... and then I sat in an electric wheelchair. Game changer! Luckily for me, I already had a friend who'd bought one of the Etech Mobility Electric Wheelchairs and she had been raving about it for months. I did have to wait for what I wanted to come back into stock, but when it did, the EM team sent it straight out to me.
So, like me, you'll be wondering what's it really like and what it can do. Best I share a video of my first outing on a bitterly cold day. My Freedom Elite AF MR tackled pavement, going up and down small inclines, gravel and grass, uneven pathways with roots under the tarmac... all of it without a hitch. The ride was comfortable and it must have suspension somewhere as my back hurts 24/7 and it was fine even over these bumps.
At first, I went on the 2nd from slowest power mode to get the hang of the joystick - which is very sensitive - and then I upped it to one under the top power. Top power - and hence speed - is just a little fast for my husband to keep up with!!
I cannot rate this wheelchair highyl enough. It is going to be lifechanging. I haven't been into town where Ilive for years as shopping gives me too much pain. Now I am planning to whizz in for a shop and have lunch out this weekend.
In case you are wondering what happens if something isn't quite right, you don't have to worry. The first joystick I was sent didn't collapse the chair, so they couriered me one out straight away and I got it the next day. It's been such a pleasure from start to finish dealing with the EM team, I cannot rate them highly enough and have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending them to you.
Don't wait years to take the plunge - I wish I'd done this at least a year earlier.

I spent quite a while deciding on which power chair to purchase as there are quite a few on the market but I kept coming back to Etech! I then had trouble deciding which one to go for. I didnt go to try them out as it was too far to travel so I was a bit nervous hoping I'd choose the right one but I finally decided on a Freedom Elite AF MR in blue and just missed the 2pm cut off so had to wait the whole weekend. It arrived early monday morning before the time slot which I was very pleased about and couldn't wait to unbox it and get it charged to try it out. It did take me a while to work out how to unfold it but once got the knack its very easy. I can say I am over the moon with it. It has tackled drop curbs and gravel tracks much better then my previous lighter chair although still have to take care on the slopes at the drop curbs. Although heavier it feels much more sturdy and very comfortable and have to get a chair hoist fitted to the car for me to lift it although husband has been lifting it for me so far. I love having the manual recline as I can adjust my sitting position. The guy on the phone was very patient as I had lots of questions and talked me through how to order online. I can't wait to take it on lots more adventures. Thank you Etech

I needed a bigger frame but also a chair that folds and reclines to fit with my back issues. Having tried a number of cheaper chairs, I ended up returning them until I took the plunge and invested in this one! It has given me much more independence as it automatically folds and it has made sitting in it for longer easier to do as I can adjust the back rest. Would definitely recommend!

Arrived in a sturdy box with protective inner. One of the cables was not connected, but this was sorted with a phone call. The chair is a bit tricky to control via the very sensitive joystick, but I'm getting better with practice, especially on level, flat ground.

Arrived in large box, was very difficult to unpack, lots if packaging.
Also there is a message to tell you to check all screws and bolts, which l found to be unnerving, especially as there are many people like myself, who are not very strong and are unable to do this and have no one to ask.
It would be much better if when its delivered it was checked by the delivery company.
I have a large wheel screw and a nut which were loose in the box, l cannot see anywhere on the chair where they have come off from, which is worrying.
I will have to phone the company because l need some questions answered.

The Elite is robust and sturdy. I purchased the chair so that I could fly. I'll take my first flight from Miami in November. The wheelchair is exactly as advertised. The few criticisms I have are that the armrests are really hard (I've ordered armrest pads, the seat cushion is really hard (I've ordered a gel overlay cushion) and the chair needs a safety feature so that it won't fold when someone's sitting in it. The autofold feature will help with my husband's bad back. I won't be able to review it fully until I've taken it on a plane, but it's looking promising. The price was very good and it was delivered next day. Overall, my contact with the company has been excellent. They provided answers to my pre purchase questions. I was able to test drive a few chairs on my visit to the Glasgow showroom. There has never been any pushy sales tactics. Etech doesn't need any, the chairs sell themselves. I would definitely recommend this chair and the company.

She uses a Roho cushion and because there's an open space below the armrests it flopped over the sides, which made her feel unstable. I bought this as I have Motor Neurone Disease and needed a reclining chair that will support my head and neck. This chair is ideal, the only negative is that I need a cushion for the headrest as it is quite uncomfortable. It's not cushioned but other than that the chair is fine. Automatic folding is a bonus.

This is the best power chair I’ve owned. The value of the chair is incredible and I would definitely recommend buying the extra leather upholstery if you can, as it’s so comfortable and looks amazing.
The chair stops as soon as you leave go of the joystick which is very important, but none of my other chairs did this, they carried on moving forward for a foot or more which was tricky when approaching a kerbside etc. I was apprehensive when approaching junctions on my first trip out with this chair not knowing how it would behave at dropped kerbs etc. but I soon realised that I will enjoy my journeys more being able to relax because of the smooth handling of the chair. The suspension works really well which is extremely important to me due to having a broken spine and neck injury, so obviously comfort and safety is paramount, the headrest is also very important for my neck and this is very comfortable and adjustable to get it just how you require.
I can thoroughly recommend this chair and Etech to purchase it from.

OMG I love this chair. Bought as a replacent for my fire damaged one and I'm loving the automatic opening. Had a few teething problems, need to remember to put batteries back in before I take it full out of the car or it's awkward as of course can't unfold without the batteries in situ. You live and you learn. Not tried the recline button yet but it's so comfortable and so responsive I'm loving it!
